Every year both wine makers and drinkers alike, await the release of Ray’s new Wine Guide.
Wine makers await the release to see how their hard work for the previous year has been received, a report card if you will. Each wine receives a comment and a score from Ray along with a recommendation on cellaring. Drinkers await the release to see what they should be buying and how long to keep it for.
At Cape Grace we think we make great wine but look forward to the feedback from Ray on our wines and this year is no exception. With the release of the 2017 edition of the book comes more glowing reviews with our 2013 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon scoring 96 points. The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon scored a close 95 points and the Chardonnay a glowing review. Proving you can taste the love in our wines.

Our Wines
Cape Grace chardonnay 2015 ($38)
A classy modern chardonnay displaying a tight and elegant structure. Nectarine and light melon characters with a little brioche and lightly roasted cashew influence. The palate is beautifully integrated with a precise long finish. SCORE 92/100 CELLAR 5 years.
Cape Grace cabernet franc 2014 ($40)
Perfumed aromatics on the nose are distinctly cabernet franc. There is a lot more middle-palate substance in here than you might expect with cab franc. Yet there is still that linear elegance and refinement that is expected. Sweet fruit, powdery tannins and gentle oak persuasion.
SCORE 93/100 CELLAR 7 years.
Cape Grace cabernet sauvignon 2014 ($55)
A stylish and expressive cabernet loaded with juicy ripe fruit that gradually releases as it breathes. When it does, other things emerge, showing a meaty blackcurrant character with leafy black olive and subtle cigar box. It is so complex. The textural side is superb. Smooth and seamless with integrated weave of supple tannins and fine grained oak. SCORE 95/100 CELLAR 12 years.
Cape Grace shiraz 2014 ($35)
Earthy shiraz from deep in the heart of Margaret River. There’s a loamy gravelly character that merges with the spicy fruit on the nose. On the palate it’s neatly woven together with grainy tannins and lovely oak playing a part. Very nice wine that expresses the savoury characters of the region.
SCORE 91/100 CELLAR 7 years.
Cape Grace Reserve cabernet sauvignon 2013 ($85)
This is a small production wine that is the cream of the crop for Cape Grace and introduced to the portfolio a couple of years ago. This is another very good wine. Deep and concentrated black fruits on the nose with a perfumed lift creating a beautiful opening. Powdery tannins work into the intense fruit to drive and support through to the long finish. It has the power but it also has the style and graceful lines. SCORE 96/100 CELLAR 20 years.
